While so many events were cancelled this past year, many athletes were left with the consolation of a virtual event. Is it the same? Absolutely not. Does it give you something to train for? Yes and that is helpful for so many people. I personally ran a virtual Half marathon. I made huge mistakes, ran in a different location on race day, and went out way to fast too early. This resulted in me alternating walking and half jogging my last 2 miles trying to mitigate my red zone heart rate. Frankly it didn’t matter! The months I spent trying a new training program, keeping the routine of training alive kept me doing something. That was goal all along, keeping the routine of fitness alive.
